Project
Toward effective fishing practices for migrating adult sea lamprey in difficult-to-assess rivers (Phase I): Systematic knowledge review and site assessment protocol development
There is renewed interest in developing innovative and effective practices to capture migrating sea lampreys as they move through rivers toward spawning grounds. This project will scour the Earth for information and knowledge, both scientific and traditional, for effective approaches to capturing lampreys and similar fishes that may be applied in the Great Lakes. An integrated team of scientists and managers will take the information and create new designs for devices to capture lampreys, and recommended practices for their use. In addition, a comprehensive database of all discovered literature and knowledge will be assembled and made available to all interested parties.
