Ann Arbor-Reporters are advised that U.S. Senator Spencer Abraham (R-MI)
will visit the Great Lakes Fishery Commission (GLFC) and the Great Lakes Environmental
Research Laboratory (GLERL) on Monday, February 16, 1998.
The Senator will arrive at the GLFC office at
approximately 4:45 p.m. where he will be briefed about GLFC and GLERL activities. The
Senator will then tour the GLERL laboratory, starting at approximately 5:05 p.m. Reporters
are welcome to attend the briefing and the laboratory tour.
The GLFC is located at 2100 Commonwealth Blvd, Suite
209, Ann Arbor (off of Plymouth Road, west of Green Road). GLERL is located across the
street from the GLFC, at 2205 Commonwealth Blvd.
The GLFC coordinates fishery research between the United
States and Canada and implements a joint program to control sea lampreys in the Great
Lakes. The GLFC receives its funding from the U.S. Department of State and from the

GLERL conducts basic and applied research in physical,
chemical, and biological sciences in the Great Lakes region. The laboratory is a part of
